probes / sigint / frl-X408 flexible radio link demultiplexer

FRL-X408 is a universal high rate hardware demultiplexer, with different available API to be downloaded to receive high data rate radio transmissions.
It comes as a unique 19"/3U rack that integrates two FPGA boards ready to be loaded with the adequate API, one of the applications is the receiving and decoding of radio frame.
It works up to 40 Msps baud rate and 340 Mb/s. It processes demultiplexing with channel decoding of various error-correcting codes, and de-multiplexing of ITU standard STM-1, PDH/E4, E3/T3, E2, and E1/T1. It is also able to provide customised outputs through out its proprietary numeric link (GUI controlled) which is fully compatible with our ENRLB-48 recorder.

Main Features
- ITU Standard STM-1, PDH/E4, E3/T3, E2, E1/T1, Outputs
- Modulation: BPSK, DBPSK, QPSK, DQPSK, 8-PSK, 8-DPSK, OQPSK, 16-QAM, 32-QAM, 64-QAM GMSK, 2-FSK
- All combinations of demapping: absolute, differential and mixed are available
- Two stages of forward error coding
- Phase ambiguity resolving
- Frame alignment acquiring
- Ethernet TCP/IP remote controlled operations via intuitive GUI
- 128 Mo snapshot memory to interface CPU based software algorithms for waveform recognition.
- Connectable with our product ENRLB-48 for high rate data recording or generation.
- Built In Test capabilities
- AST and Watkins Johnson inter operability

Channel Decoding Stage Capabilities
Following treatments can be combined to form inner and outer decoding structures:
- Additive and feed through descramblers with multi-frame synchronization capability. Generic differential decoders.
- Block, block modified and convolutive (Forney) deinterleavers.
- Punctured Viterbi decoders (K = 3, 5, 7).
- RS decoders (GF[64/256], with truncation). BCH decoders (t = 1, 2, 3), RM decoders. Bloc turbo decoders, generic binary decoders.

Demultiplex Capabilities
The demultiplexer splits the tributary bits in three kinds of output groups:
- 1 139 Mbps PDH or 155.52 Mbps.
- up to 4 outputs E/T3 (1) and up to 21 outputs for E/T1. 1 output E1/G704 for the special case of unframed 64 Kbps timeslots over radio.

Modular System Structure

OEM adaptations are totally possible thanks to our modular boards (for instance, other FEC scheme)

Demodulator Compatibility
The Demultiplexer provides an access to payload. Its input can be delivered from the FRL-D408, AST or Watkins Johnson demodulator (in this case, the FRLCC40
is needed to provide the inter operability).

Remote Control
Remote control is achieved via the Ethernet 100BaseT LAN with socket messaging over TCP/IP. Graphical User Interface (running under WINDOWS XP TM
operating system) is included for control of the whole system from a remote laptop or workstation.
This software enables system configurations to be created, opened, edited, saved, and downloaded. It also provides various facilities for the control and
display of monitored information, estimated BER, and synchronization status.
The snapshot memory can be driven to get a 128 Mo block of signal samples in a user named host file.

Configuration Operations
The demultiplexer configuration goes on in several steps. Firstly one can configure inner and outer codes in accordance with the demodulator constraints. This can be done through menus which provide an easy access to all predefined structures. Derivation for frame synchronization is automatically placed in accordance with the codes selfsynchronization capability. Secondly, the radio frame is edited through a dedicated grid.. Each bit on the grid can be
addressed to a given output and set as tributary, stuffing or stuffing indication. A given bit can also be selectively tagged for each frame-synchronized treatment.

Run Time Control & Front Panel
The run time control is accomplished through the GUI by controlling the constellation display, the estimated BER value, the synchronization status for FAW recovery. The front panel contains the ON/OFF switch and some indication Leds for BIT results and synchronization status

I/O Connectors
All connectors are located on the rear panel. Dedicated connectors enable our high rate recorder ENRLB-48 to be connected, in order to carry data recording:
- Power supply: 100-240V / 50-60 Hz.
- Remote control: RJ45 Ethernet 100Base T.

Temperature Range
Operating: 5-45° C Storage: -10 – 55° C

(1)
E2 are multiplexed into E3.
Field applications
Digital microwave beam, satellite communications.
