FRL-D408 is a universal high rate hardware demodulator, with different available
API to be downloaded to receive high data rate radio transmissions.
It comes as a unique 19"/2U rack that integrates one FPGA boards ready
to be loaded with the adequate API, one of the applications is the receiving
and decoding of radio frame.
It works with a 70, 140 or 160 MHz IF (factory option) with a 30 to
0 dBm power level, and accepts input signal up to 60 MHz bandwidth and up
to 40 Msps baud rate.
It processes demodulation with channel equalization. It is also able to
provide customised outputs through out its proprietary numeric link which
is fully
compatible with our ENRLB-48 recorder and our FRL-D408 demultiplexer unit.
This demodulator can inter operate with AST Demultiplexer or equivalent
thanks to our FRL-CC40 cross connect device.

Demodulation Capabilities Available mono-carrier modulations are:
- BPSK, QPSK, 8-PSK, OQPSK
- DBPSK, DQPSK, 8-DPSK
- 16-QAM, 32-QAM, 64-QAM
- MSK, GMSK, 2-FSK
The baud rate can be continuously adjusted from 0.25 to 40 MBds within a
60 MHz maximal bandwidth (1). All demodulations (except 2-FSK) are coherent
and processed with an up to 64 taps fractionally spaced CMA/DD equalizer.
The required accuracies on initial values and the corresponding convergence
rate are: - Baud rate: 10 -3 of baud rate. - Carrier offset: 10-2 of baud rate. - Convergence: 103 to 104 (64-QAM) symbols. All combinations of demapping: absolute, differential and mixed are
available.
Modular System Structure
OEM adaptations are totally possible thanks to our modular boards.
Demultiplex Compatibility
The demodulator cleans up the signal in order to work with the FRL-X408,
AST or equivalent Demultiplexer (in this case, the FRL-CC40 is needed to
provide the inter operability).
Remote Control
Remote control is achieved via the Ethernet 100BaseT LAN with socket messaging
over TCP/IP. Graphical User Interface (running under WINDOWS XP
TM operating system) is included for control of the whole system from a
remote laptop or workstation. This software enables system configurations
to be
created, opened, edited, saved, and downloaded. It also provides various
facilities for the control and display of monitored information such as
constellation, estimated SNR, and synchronization status.
The snapshot memory can be driven to get a 128 Mo block of signal samples
in a user named host file.
Configuration Operations
The demodulator configuration consists in choosing the modulation type,
defining the demapping, the pulse shaping filter parameters, and the input-to-output
table for a generic symbol differential decoder. Run Time Control
The run time control is accomplished through the GUI by controlling the
constellation display, the estimated SNR value, the synchronization status
for timing and carrier recovery.
I/O Connectors
All connectors are located on the rear panel. Dedicated connectors enable
our high rate recorder ENRLB-48 to be connected, in order to carry out test
generation (from ENRLB-48) or data recording (to ENRLB-48):

The front panel contains the ON/OFF switch and some indication Leds for
BIT results and synchronization status.
