lawful interception / ulak-ComMon Full Scale Customizable Passive Trunk monitoring System

Investigators required to collect and analyze more and more data every day. ULAK family provide the LEA with best tools to collect, analyze and deliver intelligence.

“ULAK-ComMon” is the full trunk monitoring system of ULAK family to fulfill the most demanding needs of today's telecommunication interception world. As an economical solution to monitor whole traffic, “ULAK-ComMon” allows to “GET EVERY BIT” of the target. The system is not limited with capabilities of the switches and Telco operators.

The full monitoring approach increases the intelligence that can be extracted even there is no call setup. As the system is able to monitor and present every command, the investigators are able to see whole picture such as no-connect cases, when targets only ring telephones instead of speaking. Authorized law enforcement agencies are provided with the real time data for actionable intelligence.

Within GSM monitoring scenarios, the system is configurable to obtain location information in addition to full communication content to present more data and more intelligence.

The fully customizable “ULAK-ComMon” ensures the customers to meet their all needs in the future.

Trunk monitoring captures huge volumes of traffic from both PSTN and GSM trunks. The system is built to operate 24x7 and formed with sub-systems (monitoring, database and storage option, playback option and management) connected to each other.

Our solutions utilize commercial off-the shelf (COTS) components to ease the upgrade scenarios for both hardware and software. The systems are made up of Linux servers to save the customers from unexpected ownership costs.

Monitoring:
Derived from the line tapping, “ULAK-ComMon” is placed near the switches and monitors E1 trunks with "DMN-E1 Probes" containing R2, SS7-ISUP, and No5 Signalling, GSM-A Interface signalling as well as certain types of ABIS signalling. System together with fax/modem option can handle fax modem traffic and demodulate the data.

“DMN-E1-Probes” generates CDR (Call Detail Record)'s of all monitored traffic in addition to “all call content” or ”target call content”.

“DMN-E1 Probes” also processes and converts the IRI (Intercept Related Information) and CC (Call Content) captured from all kinds of networks. The converted data can be adjusted to different standards.

The system delivers the IRI and CC to law enforcement agencies in two different ways adjusted by management system:
- The system can deliver the IRI and CC to law enforcement agencies by warrant control
- The law enforcement agencies can connect and make inquires on IRI and CC' s with the playback option.

Database and Storage Option:
Redundant central database (DB) on Linux operating system is designed to keep the records and to provide the search engine.
NAS technology and redundant central archiving system is provided for CC storage.
Main storage system grows to multiples of petabytes to handle the most demanding user requirements for storage.

Playback Option:
- Playback workstations (WS), the system accepts hundreds of users simultaneously.
- User hierarchy for different tasks.
- Optional tools for data protocol decoding, voice print generation etc...
- System logs all user activities (log in, listened files, log out)

Management
The field proven “ULAK Management Platform” allows;
- Probe configuration and status monitoring
- User activities and privileges management
- Warrant operations (White and Black list support) management
- Law enforcement agency configuration
- System logging management.
